An accomplished painter, Alan Mitchell contacted us in need of a virtual gallery for his work in the form of a website.
Location: Belgium
Date: September 2009
Work: Website Design, Music, Stationery
His work covered a large range of forms all the while evoking a distinct 17th, 18th Century Baroque theme throughout. Mr. Mitchell decided to name his website after the Ovid Metamorphoses and the 17th Century edition which his taste in art and natural style navigated towards.
He wanted his site to be the vessel for his paintings and drawings, and naturally wanted the focus the be the works themselves. We mutally agreed upon a pale, spatious and simplistic design to house his portfolio and allow for ease of navigation. Mr. Mitchell later requested a set of business cards which would also promote his new website.
From the original sketches and layout proposals, the website chosen was the most stripped down, modern and appropriate for the paintings themselves. A slated blue/grey base and header sits upon a light mushroom grey background and maximum space is paved for the paintings to take prominence.
To organise the website in a clear and efficient manner, a drop down navbar was implemented which massively increased accessibility. The business cards were designed to maintain consistency with the website and create an overall identity and theme for the Metamorphoses Art idea.
